8 Burger Spots in Ipoh That Put Fast Food Chains to Shame
As someone who grew up watching American TV shows and movies, I’ve always been fascinated with how they depict cheeseburgers. They were always shown to feature huge juicy patties and stacked with delicious ingredients like cheese, tomatoes, and lettuce.
Growing up, I was only familiar with the ones found in fast food chains, which is why I was so hyped the first time my family brought me to my first burger joint. Until today, my love for this Western dish remains, and hunting the best ones is among my favourite things to do in Ipoh.
With that being said, consider me your burger expert around these parts, as I’ve virtually tried them all! Not all of them are worth checking out, though, which is why I’ve compiled this list of the best burger spots in Ipoh!
Red Brick Kitchen

Address: 1A, Laluan Panorama 4/4
Contact details: +60 11-5622 3642
Operating hours: Daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
Cost: $-$$
If you love to accompany your favourite Western dishes with beautiful views, then Red Brick Kitchen should be your next burger stop! It’s surrounded by beautiful lush greenery and limestone cliffs—plus, it also helps that the restaurant features floor-to-ceiling glass windows!
Views aside, however, this place also serves a mean beef burger that’s packed to the brim with hearty and flavourful ingredients. Aside from the juicy homemade patty, it comes with a runny sunny side up egg, cheddar cheese, dill chips, and streaky chicken.
Speaking of, you can also get their chicken burger if you’re avoiding meat. Some of the highlights from this dish include the delicious golden brown chicken chop and the tartar that adds the perfect hint of creaminess and tanginess to the overall sandwich.
Pro tip:
We recommend visiting from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM. During these hours, they hold their brunch special, which grants you a free cup of coffee with every order from their brunch menu.
Aud’s Cafe

Address: 97, Jalan Sultan Yusuff
Contact details: +60 5-246 1310
Operating hours: Tuesday to Sunday: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Cost: $
You’ll find three different types of burgers in Aud’s Cafe, and although that may sound limited, they can actually cater to different types of customers. For instance, meat lovers can enjoy the pesto pork burger and teriyaki grilled chicken burger.
Aud’s Cafe is also among the most IG-worthy burger places in Ipoh, featuring an old-timey shop house, complete with exposed beams, raw concrete, and wooden furniture. However, to say that it’s strictly a burger joint is a disservice!
Aside from its delicious burgers, this place also serves a wide variety of Western staples like aglio olio pasta, avocado toast, etc. They also offer tons of coffee drinks, but we prefer their smoothie selection, specifically, their mango and avocado combo.
Pro tip:
While you’re here, make sure to stop by Concubine Lane! This famous alleyway is home to some hidden cafes and restaurants that feature beautiful old-timey interiors and amazing food and beverages!

You can’t have a list of the top burger spots without including Hard Rock Cafe, as they’ve been serving their famous burgers since 1971! They’ve got the chops to back it up as well, as they offer towering burgers that all feature fresh steak patties.
One of their best offerings is the classic BBQ bacon cheeseburger, which features their signature black Angus steak patty at the forefront. An underrated ingredient that we think makes this dish, however, is their crispy shoestring onions.
You can’t go wrong with their massive double-decker cheeseburger either—I mean, what’s not to love? A stack of black Angus patties with gooey American cheese is like peanut butter and jelly, but on steroids!
Pro tip:
Consider coming here if you’ve eliminated meat from your diet but still want to treat yourself to something savoury. They offer an amazing veggie burger that uses 100% plant-based patties and comes with all the fix-ins like cheddar cheese, crispy onion rings, etc.
Crispy Creation

Address: No. 295 Ground Floor Jalan Gunung Rapat
Operating hours: Daily from 11:30 AM to 11:00 PM
Cost: $
Crispy Creation is a local joint that isn’t afraid to innovate the already foolproof way of making burgers. They showcase this through their fiery cheesy burger, where they’ll coat it with thick cheese before blowtorching to make it extra drippy.
Gimmicks aside, these burgers are some of the biggest and most flavourful ones we’ve had, that’s from a local company—respect! Their patties are also made with premium Australian beef, which can either come with drippy cheese sauce, bacon strips, scrambled eggs, etc.
Moreover, they offer chicken burgers as well, which feature chops that are just as massive as the beef patties. Our favourite among the bunch is the Korean fried chicken burger, as it features a mysterious spicy sauce that tastes like Korean chili paste.
Pro tip:
You can also order their crispy fish burger if you’re trying to avoid land animals as much as possible. These fish feature the perfect batter to make them golden brown before being drizzled with a generous amount of their homemade tartar sauce!

Cheers Toast & Burger is another Ipoh staple that offers good burgers and equally great ambience. This Korean-inspired restaurant will make you feel right at home with a bright and welcoming interior—plus, the aroma of grilled meat will allure you as soon as you enter.
The burgers here look amazing, to the point where they sometimes make us feel guilty to take a bite. But, it would be a disservice, as their patties are some of the juiciest and most savoury ones you’ll try in Ipoh.
One of the biggest standouts from their menu is the classic pork cheeseburger, which pairs perfectly with curly fries, by the way. Also, we love that they offer other dishes like quesadillas, pizza and burritos.
Pro tip:
If you’re looking for something to wash the meaty flavours down, we recommend getting their mango smoothie. Don’t worry, they taste like real mangoes!

Woodfire turns the otherwise rustic burgers gourmet by adding their own spin, among which is putting a freshly smoked brisket in the mix. So now, not only will you be biting into a juicy beef patty, but you’ll also sink your teeth into perfectly barbecued meat!
Another item we love from their menu is the double patty mix, which allows you to stack a beef patty on top of their fried chicken chop—talk about a meat lover’s dream dish! That’s not the craziest one, though, as they offer a burger that features a brisket, a beef patty, and chicken.
On the other side of the spectrum, however, we appreciate that they look out for their vegetarian customers by offering meat-free burgers that feature the same love and effort. This burger features their crispy hash browns as the patty, and their signature woodfire sauce.
Pro tip:
If you’re visiting with a group, or you’re just REALLY hungry, we recommend adding their smoked brisket platter to your order! It comes with a full rack of their signature brisket along with some curly fries.
Me’nate Steak Hub

Me’nate Steak Hub is one of the best steakhouses in Malaysia, featuring multiple locations in the country. It just so happens that they offer amazing burgers as well, and the best part is that they use different types of meat as the patty!
For starters, you can enjoy their Wagyu or Angus burger, if you’re craving something beefy that features cheddar cheese, onions, and other fixings. If you’re looking to try gamier meat, however, then their lamb burger should be on your radar!
Moreover, they offer salmon and soft-shelled crab for their seafood flavours, both of which have been freshly harvested. Meanwhile, their fried chicken burger is perfect for poultry lovers—make sure to try the Hawaiian barbeque sauce!
Pro tip:
End your meal on a sweet note by getting one of their “Heavenly Brownies”. They’re extremely fudgy, light and feature just the right amount of crumbliness.

Konda Konti Cafe & Bistro should be on your top choices if you’re one to take tons of photos on a date. It features a charming Instaworthy interior, consisting of beautifully preserved brick walls, exposed beams, dim light fixtures, and an overall rustic vibe.
However, the highlight remains to be the food, especially their massive burgers. For a cafe, this place puts other burger chains to shame by offering thick and juicy patties, perfectly toasted buns, and a variety of fixings, like lettuce, tomatoes, and cheddar cheese.
Their selection of side dishes never fails to complement these burgers either! You can either opt for their classic skinny French fries or go for their famous golden brown onion rings, but it doesn’t matter because they’re both amazing!
Pro tip:
Take the bus if you want to save money on transportation—and feel like a local!. All you have to do is depart at the Jalan Sultan Idris Shah bus stop, which is located just across the street from Konda Kondi Cafe.
