The Baba House doesn’t look like your typical hotel, and that’s exactly what makes it charming! Instead of the usual tall building, it comes in the form of a traditional Peranakan mansion, one that’s filled with intricate carvings, old-timey doors, and beautifully preserved vintage decor.

This very charm is evident in the hotel’s rooms as well, with each one featuring stunning wooden decor. Don’t fret, though, as they’re also decked out with modern amenities, from fast Wi-Fi connections to flat-screen TVs, en-suite toilets and baths.

The hotel also features rooftop pools—yep, plural! These small and shallow pools are perfect for getting that perfect tan while admiring beautiful views of Melaka.

Pro tip:

Before hitting the hay, we recommend heading to the hotel’s courtyard to catch their chill movie nights! They’ll project a movie on the hotel’s walls while you and your loved ones can sit comfortably and eat your favourite snacks.

The Pines Melaka is a living proof that you don’t have to go overboard with your budget just to stay in a 4-star hotel! Towering over the heart of Melaka, The Pines offers travellers a lavish stay in one of their luxurious modern rooms.

The hotel also features several dining options that offer Western delights, local Malay classics, breakfasts, and more. Personally, we love spending time at The Oak Kopitiam because it offers amazing specialty drinks like Hainanese Tea.

Until today, we can’t wrap our heads around how affordable the rooms at Eco Tree Hotel are. It was a few years back when our family stayed at one of their duplex units, and we were surprised to discover that we still saved more money as opposed to booking a 3-star hotel.

Eco Tree Hotel also features a beautiful sky deck that features 360-degree views of the panoramic skyline. This level is also where you’ll find the hotel’s swimming pool and bar, making it a great spot to hang out even after sundown.

The location of the hotel is unmatched as well, being smack dab in Melaka’s hotspot, with nearby attractions and hipster cafes that are worth checking out.

Pro tip:

If you’re looking for some quality Western food, head across the street to Uncle Don’s and order their renowned dishes like pizza, fish and chips, and pork ribs. Alternatively, you can head to Restoran Ole Sayang located beside Uncle Don’s to enjoy Nyonya food.

Swan Garden Hotel Melaka differentiates itself from others by having different countries as themes for its rooms. They offer rooms that are inspired by Bali and British India, but our favourite has to be the traditional Malay designs.

Regardless of which theme you go for, however, you can expect a good night’s sleep thanks to their comfy beds, air-conditioning, and plush pillows. You can also request a surprise room decoration if you’re celebrating your anniversary, birthday, etc.

They also offer a wide variety of Western dishes, which you can order through room service! It’s easy to be overwhelmed by their menu, but if you want our advice, we recommend the seafood pasta with mussels and prawns.

Pro tip:

If you’re bummed out of the hotel’s lack of spa services, don’t worry! Located just across the street is Scents & Senses A Touch of Thai, a spa that offers various massages, aromatherapy, herbal healing, foot reflexology, etc.
