9 Spots You MUST Visit for the BEST Breakfast in Subang!

Looking for a reliable spot to fuel your mornings in Subang Jaya? Well, you’re in luck because the city features a vibrant food scene, including a wide array of cafes/restaurants that offer the most amazing breakfast/brunch!

This variety (and constant laziness to get up early) leads me to believe I’ve had more breakfasts and brunches in KL and Subang than in my own home! That makes me the best person to recommend some of the city’s best breakfast spots.

Whether you’re looking to start your morning like a local and eat Malay favourites or enjoy a quiet sunrise in a cosy cafe, you’ll find something to your liking here!

Of course, the real highlight remains to be its wide array of breakfast offerings, which ranges anywhere from light salads to meaty burgers and more. They also offer a big breakfast meal, which is essentially a messy plate of eggs, bacon strips, sausages, toast and veggies.

Pro tip:

If you want to cut back on carbs but want tons of protein, we recommend getting their panko soft-boiled egg and smoked salmon salad. The salmon is super tender and the overall salad is flavoured by their delicious homemade yuzu vinaigrette.

Souka Bakeshop is one of the best bakery shops in Subang Jaya mainly because of its wide selection of enticing cakes. If you’ve ever seen those cartoons where the character starts to levitate after smelling something delicious, that encapsulates our experience here.

What’s great about their selection is that they offer different versions per flavour. For instance, you won’t simply get a chocolate cake, as they offer variations like chocolate muddy cake, Nutella cake, hazelnut torte, chocolate fudge cake, etc.

However, a slice of cake isn’t typically a healthy breakfast, so we recommend it as a dessert after enjoying one of their hot meals. Their meals range anywhere from Western classics like chicken chop to local staples like kampung-style fried rice.

Pro tip:

If you’re not into chocolate, don’t fret! They also offer other flavours like Oreo cookies and cream, peanut butter and our personal favourite: Lotus Biscoff.

To top it all off, they also serve a wide array of decadent cakes that you can seek your teeth in after your hearty meal. You can’t go wrong with anything from their dessert menu, but if you want our advice, we highly recommend their fudge brownies.

Pro tip:

If you’re too late for breakfast, you can get a good deal if you visit between 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM by ordering their lunch set! You can either get their pasta or sandwich but regardless of which, you’re guaranteed to get a free peach or lemon iced tea!

One of the best ways you can start your day in Subang Jaya is by checking out one of its many dim sum restaurants, one of which is Hoong Foong Dim Sum. This humble restaurant offers a wide array of dim sum of dim sum, both steamed and fried!

What we love about this specific dim sum spot is that it’s unafraid to experiment. One of the perfect examples of this is their bacon-wrapped dim sum, which is exactly what it sounds like and we must admit, it’s delicious even though we feel like we’re committing a cardinal sin.

They also offer some baos that are filled with so much flavour like their drunken chicken bao. If you’re looking to try something more traditional, however, we recommend getting their chee cheong fun!

Pro tip:

If you’re feeling adventurous, we recommend ordering their chicken feet! Trust us, once you get past its texture, you’ll be treated to one of Malaysia’s best delicacies—plus, they’re marinated in chilli sauce!

Good Friends is a good place to start your day if you’re looking to be immersed in Malaysia’s local delights. One of their bestsellers here is their nasi lemak, which features a generous amount of fragrant rice, crispy fried chicken and a nice side of spicy sambal.

Don’t worry though, as they also offer some Western brunch staples like grilled chicken salads, beef burgers and more. Our favourite among them, however, is their waffle, as they can either come with fried chicken or savoury bacon strips.

Lastly, they also serve a wide array of drinks ranging from black coffee to premium hot chocolate. Furthermore, you can treat yourself to one of their refreshers like their Ruby Rising concoction.

Pro tip:

If you’re looking to order something for sharing, we highly recommend getting one of their pasta plates or homemade pizza. Both these dishes feature generous serving sizes and feature amazing flavours!

Benjy Cafe is another reliable spot to get the best Western food for breakfast. Personally, their steak sandwich stands among the rest but you can easily order anything from their menu and you won’t be disappointed.

If you’re looking for carbs, then a plate of one of their signature pasta should do the trick! One of their best offerings from this menu is their smoked duck carbonara, which is equal parts creamy and savoury.

Before leaving, however, make sure to order their molten lava cake to end your meal on a sweet note! Once you see the dark chocolate sauce pouring outside this cake, consider your diet gone!

Pro tip:

After getting your morning fix of coffee and breakfast, you can order some more desserts by crossing the street and heading to Souka Bake Shop!

If you’re looking for a no-frills breakfast experience, then Restoran Uncle Seng should be on your radar! This humble restaurant will treat both your tummies and tastebuds with hearty bowls of noodle soup.

One of the things we love about this place is that it puts you in the wheel in just about every aspect of the noodle soup. From the type of the noodle itself down to the sides and toppings, you can personalise your dish as much as you want!

Speaking of sides, there are a handful of them in their menu that’s worth highlighting. One of our favourite things to order here is their deep-fried pork and chicken mushroom soup—both of which are perfect for pairing with the piping hot broth.

Pro tip:

Visit this place early in the morning or just before noon to avoid the lunch rush and crowds, in general.

Restoran Kwai Sun is a great spot to check out if you’re looking to be immersed in Malaysia’s rich cuisine. For starters, they offer one of the best versions of chee cheong fun we’ve tried in the city because of its silky rice noodle and crushed peanuts.

Another local delicacy that Malaysians love to eat for breakfast is mee goreng and boy does this restaurant offer an amazing version of this dish. Although it’s a bit sweet for our liking, we still love it for its distinct stir-fried flavour—plus, it comes with a variety of toppings!

The last dish that we want to highlight is their wanton mee, which we love because of the restaurant’s generous serving sizes. When you order this dish, you’re guaranteed to get at least 7 wontons in your soup—talk about value for money, right?

Pro tip:

If you’re craving for a nice cup of joe to cap off your breakfast, you can head to the nearby 95 Degrees Art Cafe!

If your idea of a nice breakfast consists of cosy spaces and comfort food, then 95 Degrees Art Cafe is the perfect pick for you! Here, you can sit in one of their cool wooden chairs or vintage sofas, as you sip on your go-to coffee drink.

Speaking of coffee, they offer signature flavours that you wouldn’t typically find in other coffee houses. One of the best examples of this is their “Head in the Cloud” drink, which consists of espresso shots, lavender, blueberry syrup and cold brew Earl Grey.

As for their selection of food, you can treat yourself to delicious brunch items like the classic avocado toast or the mushroom scrambled egg toast. If you’re REALLY hungry, however, we recommend their “Breakfast For Me”, which is like a full English breakfast meal.

Pro tip:

If you’re craving something sweet for your breakfast, we recommend getting their “Thicc” waffles. These fluffy waffles are topped with syrups, fresh fruit and a heaping scoop of gelato.
